Pricing

Pay once. Whether you ever pay again is your call.

Buy it once

One payment, yours for good, with a year of updates — every version released in that year is yours. When the year ends, Folding Mirror still opens, still writes, still saves, resting on the last version you are entitled to.

No subscription, no account, no expiry that turns it into a brick. The assistant runs on your own API key, and that bill never passes through Folding Mirror.

01 — What it costs

One SKU. No personal-versus-pro fork. The less there is to choose, the less this feels like being sold to.

Early bird · first 40 days

$9$19

$19 after that, with a week's notice before the price goes up. Prices are in US dollars; tax is added at checkout where your country requires it.

  • Paid onceNot a subscription. Skipping renewal never disables anything.
  • 3 machinesOne key across macOS, Windows and Linux. Commercial work included.
  • 30-day refundOne email, no questions. And 14 days to try before you pay.

You can't buy it yet — the installer is not out, and selling something nobody can download is worse than not selling. The numbers above are what it will cost, written down now because you have a right to see a price before anyone asks you for money. On the day it opens, the buttons in this section become Buy.

International checkout is not open yet either: the first payment channel is a Chinese one. If you want a copy before that changes, write to[email protected] and I will sort it out by hand.

02 — Updates

A one-time price has exactly one thing to explain: what happens after a year.

Which versions this buys

Every one released in the next year. And when that year is up, nothing happens.

Day 0
You pay. The key arrives by email — one key, every platform. Install and write.
First 12 months
Every version released in that window installs, at no further cost. Major versions included — there is no "you bought 1.0, now buy 2.0" here.
After 12 months
The software does not stop. It rests on the last version you are entitled to and stays exactly that, day after day: no expiry, no read-only mode, no nagging.
To get newer ones
Another year of updates for $8. Renew whenever you like, even years later; not renewing takes nothing away from the copy you have.

Renewal always costs less than buying fresh — less than the early-bird price too. An existing customer should never pay more than a new one, and here they never will.

03 — One key

One key, 3 machines

How machines are counted

3 in total across platforms: a desktop, a laptop, the machine at work, and you are full. When a 4th one starts up, the machine you have used least steps aside — it stops receiving updates, and goes on opening, writing and saving. You never write in to free a slot, and reinstalling your OS does not cost you one.

Commercial use is included

There is no personal-versus-business split. One SKU, and the ordinary key covers paid work. For a team, write to [email protected] — those are issued by hand.

04 — Try first

The refund window outlasts the trial. Not generosity — hardly anyone asks.

Bought wrong? Take it back

14-day trial

What you download is the complete app, fully usable for 14 days — no card, no account, not even an email address. After that it turns read-only, and everything you wrote is still sitting in your own folder, ready to be read, exported, or opened in any other editor.

30-day refund

Write to [email protected] within 30 days and you get all of it back, no questions asked. The one exception is a resold key.

05 — Questions
Do I have to keep paying?+

No. This is a one-time purchase, not a subscription. When the year of updates runs out, Folding Mirror still opens, still writes, still saves — it just stays on the last version you are entitled to. Renewing is only for getting newer ones, and it costs $8 a year.

What do I lose if I never renew?+

Only future versions. The copy on your machine does not expire, does not go read-only, and never nags you. The Folding Mirror you have on the day you stop renewing is the Folding Mirror you keep, unchanged, for as long as you want it.

What happens when I change computers?+

One key runs on 3 machines at once, counted across macOS, Windows and Linux together. Put the same key into the new machine. When a 4th one shows up, the machine you have used least stops receiving updates — it keeps opening, writing and saving. You never have to write in to free a slot.

Do I need a business licence to use it at work?+

There is no business edition. Folding Mirror has one SKU, and the ordinary key covers commercial work. For a team, write in and the keys are issued by hand.

Does the AI assistant cost extra?+

No. You bring your own API key, and the usage is settled between you and your provider — that bill never passes through Folding Mirror. It is also what makes a one-time price possible: the moment Folding Mirror paid for your tokens, there would be a cost that grows with your usage, and a single payment could never cover it.

06 — Next

Use it first.
Talk money later.

The price is up there, but it is not what you have to decide today. Install it, write something long, and 14 days will tell you whether this is the sheet of paper you wanted.

The fine print lives in the terms. Anything unclear, write to [email protected].
